As Ethiopia belongs to the subtropical regions, there are two rainy seasons. The longer one lasts from June till September. Afterwards there is a longer dry season followed by the shorter rain season from February till March.
The best travel season for the country are the months from October till May. The nicest temperatures are from November till January. During these months you will also enjoy the most hours of sunshine, approximately 10 per day.
For the Omo-land, the time from End-June till Mid-October as well as from End-November till Mid-February are the best to travel. If you want to visit the region of the Danakil, then choose the months from November till March. But during the fasting month Ramadan you should at all costs avoid to dravel into the desert.
The Bale Mountains can be best discovered from November till March. Botanists, however, will love the time from May till June, as due to the single rain falls the mountains glow in lush green colours.
